The first, inaugural issue of the annually published COSE Journal, created by editor-in-chief and creative director Giulia Nardi and edited by Gilda Bruno, is titled “TABLE” (230×300mm, 184 pages). It’s set in HAL Timezone with Mono, published by HAL Typefaces.
A beautifully designed new image-led title from Milano, COSE Journal (that’s Italian for things) is a study of our relationships to everyday objects and their functions, particularly against the backdrop of overconsumption and capitalism. Produced in a similar vein to the likes of Objection and Tools, each issue is dedicated to a single object. First up: the table ‘and all the things inhabiting it.’
Amongst crisp and satisfying still lives of glassware, utensils and Martin Parr’s pieces of toast, you’ll find a sprinkling of table-themed short stories, interviews with artists from Italian residency Terraterra and an essay on ‘why wardrobes should be more like tables.’
A smart debut, with four covers to choose from.
