Design studio WeWantMore used Carbona in their redesign of Axabio’s website. Axabio produces astaxanthin, which is “a naturally occurring carotenoid, a type of pigment that is produced by certain types of algae. It is responsible for the vibrant pink and red colors seen in seafood such as salmon and shrimp. When extracted from the Haemotococcus pluvialis alga, natural astaxanthin offers significant health benefits for food supplements or cosmetics.”.

Plau made a customized version of Carbona of constant weight with the alphabetic glyphs with round counter shapes increased in weight towards the center, resulting in a breathing typeface that was animated in multiple moments in the website.

Customizing typefaces from a foundry’s library can lead to interesting creative result as well as economically savvy business decisions for agencies and clients.
