Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today gathers artworks by 28 artists connected to the region, including standout works by María Magdalena Campos-Pons, Teresita Fernández, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Deborah Jack, Ana Mendieta, Suchitra Mattai, Lorraine O’Grady, and Ebony G. Patterson.
This exhibition was conceptually heavy, dealing with sensitive ideas and content, and we wanted the didactics to relay the same sense of urgency and gravity, while maintaining neutrality. We used Neue Haas Grotesk throughout the exhibition. The typeface has presence for the conceptual aspects of the exhibition, a high x-height for legibility, and elegant curves that are simply beautiful.
The exhibition is curated by Carla Acevedo-Yates, Marilyn and Larry Fields Curator, with Iris Colburn, Curatorial Assistant, Isabel Casso, former Susman Curatorial Fellow, and Nolan Jimbo, Susman Curatorial Fellow.
