The fluency of Cyrus Highsmith and Eduardo Danilo’s rapport appears in the dramatic redesign of the leading Mexican newspaper, El Universal in the commissioned typeface Zócalo Text and Zócalo Display.

Their exchange reads like a modern day cultural diaspora: designer crosses border and ask foreigner to draw type set in Spanish, who references Transylvanian and American historical types and creates a whole new language. In communicating Danilo’s energetic expression for the newspaper, nothing was lost in translation and everyone is talking again.
