Released in 1893 for the Dickinson branch of ATF. This is Joseph Warren Phinney’s unauthorized take on William Morris’s 1890s Golden Type, or Morris Golden, a chunky interpretation of Nicholas Jenson’s Renaissance types. ATF advertised Phinney’s Jenson Heavyface in 1899 […] Jenson Condensed and Bold Condensed were introduced in 1901.” [McGrew] Sold by Stephenson Blake as Italian Old Style (not to be confused with other types of the same name).
