A British foundry with roots that go back to Caxton in the 15th-century. The name comes from founders John Stephenson and James Blake who established the company in Sheffield in 1818 and then purchased William Caslon IV’s foundry. By the 1950s, Stephenson Blake, & Co. Ltd. had absorbed most of the UK’s typefounders, including Caslon, Fry’s, Fann Street, Reed & Fox, and Miller & Richard.
