Issued by Filmotype before 1955, as one of the first faces in their Novelty range. [Filmotype 1955] Quartz is an upright version. Cameo is a solid equivalent. Quarry (also solid) is less inclined, narrower, and has rough contours.
Also shown in PLINC’s Alphabet Thesaurus (1960) and listed as Quaker (Vivante) Inline in their One Line catalog (1971). Copied by VGC as M-4. [VGC 1972] Mecanorma [1967 ad] and Formatt [1974 catalog] had versions for dry-transfer lettering under the alias Jet, which provided the basis for the digital revival and expansion Jest (Harold’s Fonts, used for sample).
