Designed by Frederic Warde and first cut in 1925 at Paris by
Charles Plumet. Named Arrighi, being based on the
chancery cursive of Ludovico
degli Arrighi, with roman caps. A second private version known
as Vicenza and distinguished by left-pointing top
serifs was used by the Officina Bodoni in 1926.
Arrighi was then adapted for the English Monotype
Corporation as a companion italic to Bruce Rogers’ Centaur,
again with left-pointing top serifs and now with italic caps.
