Designed by William W. Jackson. The patent from March 17, 1891 shows an all-caps design with open top and solid bottom halves. Keystone’s 1906 specimen shows only a solid style.

Also carried by Krebs as Allegro (before 1907, in solid and licht, i.e. open styles) and by Augusta as Beatrice (before 1914, in scuri and chiara styles). [Reichardt]

Digital versions include Vasari NF (Nick’s Fonts, 2011, solid caps with small caps only) and Roman Tyres (Red Rooster). The latter expands the design to 4 weights plus Open and Deflated (open top, solid bottom; used for sample) styles. The Light and Medium weights have a lowercase.
