West Barnum

Designed by Dave West for Photo-Lettering, Inc. in 2 weights, Block and Ultra. The latter is distinguished by a heavier uppercase with minimized counters and is shown in Alphabet Directions No. 7 “Americana Alphabets” (1967). Both styles are shown in Alphabet Thesaurus Vol. 3 from 1971 (but not yet in Vol. 2 from 1965).

Sanders Black (Lettergraphics) is similar to Barnum Block.

Barnum Block is digitally available from Monotype as PL Barnum Block. Barnum Ultra (used for sample) was digitized by Ben Kiel and Adam Cruz for Photo-Lettering.
