Seymour Chwast’s plump face based on old wood type [Meggs], possibly Nesbitt’s Gothic or Gothic Round. Most sources show 1970 as a release date, but it was certainly designed earlier as Chwast used it in 1968. Shown by PLINC in 3 variants; A (w/ graded fill, used for sample), C (solid), and Open (outlined). [PLINC One-Liner] In 1980, Chwast designed a novelty version called Bestial Bold to fit the theme of a Push Pin Graphic issue.

Nick Curtis’ Weedy Beasties is based on Blimp and Bestial but is not a faithful (nor authorized, perhaps?) digitization. The ‘P’ is far too narrow, for example.
