Frederik Staete, The Hague Photo(s) by Florian Hardwig. Imported from Flickr on Sep 16, 2015. Source: www.flickr.com Uploaded to Flickr by Florian Hardwig and tagged with “amazone”. License: All Rights Reserved. Amazone was originally released by Lettergieterij Amsterdam in 1958. It is still quite popular in the Netherlands. Here it can be seen on on Frederikstraat in The Hague, on the awning of a building that currently houses a shop for interiors. The t has the more conventional form that was introduced later, probably to cater to the expectations of an international market. Early specimens show a different, more cursive form with a very low bar. Bitstream’s digitization doesn’t include the original glyph.
