Predicated on real science, Director Ridley Scott and Production Designer Arthur Max drew on the expertise of specialists at NASA and the European Space Agency, and asked Territory to craft the screen graphics and UI that would be needed.

More information and additional images can be found on the website of Territory and Marti Romances, the studio’s art director responsible for the type choices.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing this! So cool, and it’s great to see all of the intricacies like this, instead of just pausing the movie, and squinting at the displays to see this work!

    2. I believe it was Gridnik that was used according to David Sheldon-Hicks’ (Territory Studio Creative Dir) tweet on 01 Nov.

    3. Thank you, Dan! I’d need a closer look, but perhaps we should replace Blender in the listing, which is a very similar typeface but with slightly softer corners.

    4. Correct, Gridnik was the one used for the arm computers, Nasa Mission Control, JPL and Hermes sets.

For HAB screens I used a font called Trim, and Carbon for the Rover ones.

    5. Marti, thank you for confirming!

What is the typeface used in the “Cams” that are frequently in Mars scenes of the movie? One example is the “Rover2 Dashcam” as seen at 1:47:24.

    7. David, do you happen to have an image?

    8. Hi I think David was talking about this particular font shown in this image … I would also like to know this font?

awesome GUI by the way… is it a pixelated font or is it just a video effect?

    9. That looks like FF DIN, with an effect applied.

Anybody know what the face used in the final credits is? With the funky 'g’?

    11. Do you have a visual sample?
