It’s hard to believe this was published in 1936. Looks so new. Must have been quite special at the time.

I was under the impression that Futura didn’t have a square-barred ‘1’. It was how I was always distinguishing Spartan from the original. But perhaps this style of ‘1’ was offered in Germany too? It also appears in this 1936 Swiss ad.
