Noirs Desseins. Une danse macabre d’après Walter Draesner

This book, published on the occasion of the exhibition Dernière danse (Last Dance) at the Galerie Heitz of the Palais Rohan in Strasbourg, is a reissue of Walter Draesner’s Ein Totentanz. Nach Scherenschnitten von Walter Draesner, published in 1922.

The typeface in use is Totentanz. While the Roman is inspired by stone carvings found in catacombs and graveyards in Paris, the slanted companion is a new experimentation moving away from the calligraphic approach toward a constructed drawing.
