Designed by Georg Trump and released in 1930 in two weights. In 1937, a lighter cut was added. Latter is not listed as a design by Trump in Vita activa. It was available from Lettergieterij Amsterdam as Métro.

In 1988, G.G. Lange added obliques. Digital versions by Berthold Types and Bitstream (as Square Slabserif 711). URW used to offer a version named Egypt No2 (1999) which featured outlined, shaded and stencil styles as well as a set of compressed caps. It is partly available from SoftMaker under the alias Centrum.
