In 2016, Germany was the Guest of Honour at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair – the most important international platform for children’s and young people’s books and illustration. “Look!”, a specially curated exhibition of illustrators, was held on the fairground and this exhibition catalogue was produced. The catalogue is typeset in Chalet and JAF Lapture.
The choice of typefaces may not be the most obvious one, as one would not necessarily consider JAF Lapture as “childlike” or overly “friendly”. However, an unusual feature of JAF Lapture – the introduction of blackletter characteristics into a roman typeface – looks rather fitting in this book that deals with the world of Märchen (German for fairy tale).
