Yung Lean — Stranger website and short film
Stranger is a project in which Jonatan Leandoer Håstad AKA Yung Lean aims to express his feelings as much as he can. Jonatan made a great short film advertising his new album, directed by Suzie and Leo. You can really feel his emotions on this record, especially in the track “Metallic Intuition”, about which Lean said:
It’s kind of a stand-out track […] like natural progress from Warlord, being a very gothic and dark album, and this coming out as a bit lighter, but then Metallic Intuition is still being kind of a shapeshifter. […] I was just trying to figure out my place and everything, and I didn’t want to be one or two-hit wonder. I really wanted to make albums that had a different aesthetic in every album and had a different sound, and you could hear that “Oh, this is Warlord, this is Unknown Memory, this is Stranger”.
The fonts used on the Stranger website as well as in the film are several weights of Druk Wide. The fonts really go well together with the bloody aesthetic, and the logo with the type weight gradient does a great job as graphical representation of the album title.
