Thanks for adding to our humble collection of in-use examples of typefaces by Franz Heigemeir, Jay! I’ve extended our bio for Modula. From what I could gather, the specific font used for this single must be Kasse FLF, a likely unauthorized digitization made by Casady & Greene / Software Complement in 1992. There are more digital versions from the early 1990s – OPTI Ogden by Castcraft, Obbsidda by NovelFonts, Modularity by Keystrokes – but as you note, none of them is official, and none is complete. Kasse FLF is the only one to include the Regular weight.
Talking about Franz Heigemeir: Born in 1930, he graduated from Kunstschule Augsburg before emigrating to the United States in the 1950s. I wonder whether he learned from Eugen Nerdinger (1910–1991), who was teaching in Augsburg from 1946, where he was later joined by Lisa Beck (b. 1927). I wouldn’t be surprised. Sadly we can’t ask Heigmeir anymore – he died in 2018.
Thanks Florian for the info. I’ve just added another In-Use of Modula [awaiting approval] that’s even more surprising and prolific. Cheers!
