PrintMaster was published in 1985 as a competitor to Broderbund’s The Print Shop, who successfully sued for copyright infringement. PrintMaster had a number of advantages over The Print Shop, namely mixed-case fonts and a calendar function (which The Print Shop didn’t until The Print Shop Companion). Currently, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt owns the intellectual property for both Print Shop and PrintMaster.

All the fonts in the 1985 release of PrintMaster appear to be inspired by existing typefaces, including foundry type and designs for transfer lettering:

    • DeVille — derived from Murray Hill
    • Scribe — Old English
    • Office — similar to Helvetica or Unica
    • Hampton — Belshaw
    • Times — Times or Times New Roman
    • Western — derived from Playbill, less condensed
    • Utopia — Futura Black (uppercase) and Chaillot (lowercase)
    • Computer — Data 70

This is a question (not a comment): I am new to PrintMaster Platinum.  I find it cumbersome to run down the entire list of available fonts to find a good one for my project – is there a way to make a copy, or list, of all the different font samples?

    2. That I can’t help you with… this is an entry for the 1985 software, not the newer ones. I guess the manual would have samples of each.

    3. Do you have the manuals of the Printmaster Plus?

I would like to use Pirulen font but can’t. My other computer has Printmaster Platinum and has it. I don’t want to use the old computer.

    5. Hi Venus, sorry, I’m not sure what you are referring to. Pirulen is a typeface by Ray Larabe, and available in TrueType format. It can be installed and used on all modern computers. The Regular weight is free.
