Garbo (Mecanorma, 1977) on the cover of a rare French album of Congolese music, released in 1978 by Sonafric (SAF 61004). The outline/inline all-caps face with pointed terminals was designed by Gary Cooke when he was a student, taking inspiration from the Alfa Romeo logo. Here it’s used in red with white fill, with lowered Ls that embrace the subsequent Es, making the repetition more dynamic. The secondary typeface is Univers 73.
