Bantam Books, 1968 (reprint). Cover illustration by William Hofmann.

The cover for Brave New World from the same series, with art by Lynn Sweat, uses the same compact typography, featuring a narrow block in Permanent Headline in the top left corner. Karlgeorg Hoefer’s condensed display grotesk was released by Ludwig & Mayer in 1964. It’s distinguished by compact descenders (see y and p), allowing for tight linespacing.

See also Manny Schongut’s cover design for another edition of the same book, published by Harper & Row in 1972.
