A fairly early use of Mania (circa 1968), on the cover of David Robinson’s history of film comedy. The amorphous titling letterforms were drawn by hand and filled with black-and-white pictures of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Oliver Hardy, and other comic actors. The Great Funnies was published in April 1969 in the Pictureback series by Studio Vista (London) and Dutton (NYC). The secondary text is set in two widths from Univers.
