Front and back cover of Morphology of the Folktale by Soviet folklorist and scholar Vladimir Propp (1895–1970), first published in Leningrad in 1928. The English translation by University of Texas Press was first issued in 1968. The images show the eleventh edition, printed in 1990. Chances are the same design with Serpentine (VGC, 1972) was already used for previous editions.
