Die Schachwettkämpfe Marshall-Tarrasch 1905, Schlechter-Tarrasch 1911, Tarrasch-Mieses 1916 by Siegbert Tarrasch. With a foreword by Christiaan M. Bijl. Edition Olms, 1982.
ITC Avant Garde Gothic is used with many of its characteristic alternates for the jackets of a series of chess books, including two by Siegbert Tarrasch (1862–1934), published by Edition Olms in Zürich in the early 1980s.
While the earliest jacket design for the book about he Karlsbad 1929 tournament (1981) alternates between left- and right-leaning forms for A, the later ones exclusively use the right-leaning glyphs (for A/Ä, M, v/V, w/W), for a more harmonic look. The diagonal aspect is further dialed up by the use of the e with angled bar.

The Monte Carlo Tournament of 1903 by Siegbert Tarrasch. With a foreword by Christiaan M. Bijl. Edition Olms, 1983.

IV. Internationales Schachmeisterturnier Karlsbad 1929. Sammlung der 231 Partien des Turniers. Edition Olms, 1981. ITC Avant Garde Gothic here is paired with the similar Kabel.
