Arnokouros shop sign, Athens
Αρνόκουρος (Arnokouros) is a clothing shop on Omonoia Square, Central Athens.
The all-caps letters used for the shop sign seem to be an adaptation of Zipper (Letraset, 1970) for the Greek alphabet. The elements that indicate that the letterforms are inspired by Zipper include the arched A; the O consisting of two arches and two parallel verticals for its outer outline and a circle as its inner outline; the K with its curved legs.
However, the N is radically different from Zipper’s N (which is a mere arch). The Σ (sigma), for which no Latin letterform can be used as its prototype, is designed in the spirit of Zipper, with contrasted weights between its upper/bottom and middle strokes.
This adaptation appears to not be a singular case, for, except in the public space, it is also used in the 1980s publication Πολιτιστικη, a magazine about cultural affairs and Greek literature.
In the windows above this lettering, a second row of repeated store names uses what looks like stretched and loosely spaced Georgia.
