German edition of Timothy Findley’s novel The Wars. Originally published by Clarke, Irwin & Company in 1977, it was translated from the English by Annemarie Böll and published by R. Piper & Co. Verlag, München, Zürich, as Der Krieg und die Kröte in 1978. The jacket design uses a detail from Andrew Wyeth’s Trotten Weed.

For the typography, Reni Hinsch and Jan Buchholz used Letraset’s Aachen – which also featured on the original Canadian jacket. “Roman” and the author’s name are in a Caslon similar to Elsner+Flake’s New Caslon.
