For the German Federal Horticultural Show 2019, Silke Wagner realized a project in public space entitled Migration und Pflanze (or, in English, Migration and Plant). In Heilbronn, the proportion of the population with a migration background is exceptionally high at 50%. People from 140 different nations live together in the city.
For her project, Silke Wagner identified plants that originally come from migrants’ countries of origin and have become native to Heilbronn. For this purpose, she developed a system of multicoloured printed foils on which the name of the plants as well as statistics on the topics of labour migration are presented.
Bus and train shelters along the axis between the railway station, the entrance to the BUGA grounds and the Heilbronn Art Association serve as displays for her presentation. The exhibition catalogue, published by Snoeck, was designed by Very. It contains information about the plants, with statistics about their migration routes as well as in-depth information about their use and even a few recipes.
Or Lemmen is used throughout as the main typeface; selected spreads feature a yet unidentified sans serif set in capitals.
