The title of the novel utilizes Benguiat Newlock Condensed, one of three styles of a revision of Ed’s earlier Benguiat Interlock, and the basis for House Industries’ Ed Interlock, with secondary roles from Futura Extra Bold Condensed and a harder-to-identify Radiant-style font.

Hi Bryson, nice find! I believe the unidentified face is another design by Benguiat, called Ephramite. At least that’s the closest option with such an open a and e in the PLINC catalogs – and PLINC is an obvious source, given that Newlock was exclusive to them. Ephramite Cond 6 as shown in the One-Liner from 1971 is narrower, but details like the R seem to match. Maybe it’s simply stretched, or maybe they carried another, wider style that wasn’t listed.
