The first book publication of Computer War, published in 1967 by Ace Books with artwork by Hoot von Zitzewitz.

The title of the novel utilizes Benguiat Newlock Condensed, one of three styles of a revision of Ed’s earlier Benguiat Interlock, and the basis for House Industries’ Ed Interlock, with secondary roles from Futura Extra Bold Condensed and a harder-to-identify Radiant-style font.

    1. Hi Bryson, nice find! I believe the unidentified face is another design by Benguiat, called Ephramite. At least that’s the closest option with such an open a and e in the PLINC catalogs – and PLINC is an obvious source, given that Newlock was exclusive to them. Ephramite Cond 6 as shown in the One-Liner from 1971 is narrower, but details like the R seem to match. Maybe it’s simply stretched, or maybe they carried another, wider style that wasn’t listed.
