When Switzerland joined the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, it committed itself to creating and maintaining a national inventory of this heritage. The Swiss Federal Office of Culture therefore invited Trivial Mass to create six maps (spring, autumn, winter, summer, community life, crafts and entertainment) featuring the 167 traditions listed in the inventory of living traditions in Switzerland. The artist Albin Christen has reinterpreted them in a series of original and playful drawings.
Trivial Mass has chosen to use BVH Newut, which has the particularity of having all capitals designed at the x-height, with some special solutions in the design of normally identical shapes between uppercase and lowercase letters like C c, O o, or S s.
