Tequila is a mixture of tracks using just a jazz quartet with Ron Carter, Grady Tate and Ray Barretto and the rest with a string section arranged by Claus Ogerman. It is mainly a Latin-flavored album, the first Montgomery recorded without a keyboardist.
The main text on the front cover is set in Tedesca, as is the track listing on the back cover. The artist’s name uses what seems to be a custom alternate for W, and the arranger’s name is faux-italicized.
The liner notes and credits on the gatefold are set in Century Expanded. The catalog number on both sides and the “STEREO” text on some releases are set in Helvetica Light.
