“Berlin is a city filled with lots of beautiful old bikes. There are plenty of classic 'sit up and beg’ Dutch bikes and classy racers, but of interest to me are the mainly domestically produced bikes from the 60s, 70s and 80s – sometimes called “Markenrad” (which I think just means 'branded bike’). What I love are the graphics and decals on them – great typography, crazy colour combinations, gold and silver foils (a bit like Panini football stickers once upon a time), wheel fork details that somehow make me think of Transformers, and a whole load of bonkers heraldic imagery…” — Tom Thistlethwaite
