The Varityper (often stylized as VariTyper and also Vari-Typer) was a proportional typewriter used for professional documents, and a competitor to the Justowriter and the IBM Composer. Distinguished by its easy way to switch typefaces. The VariTyper Company was established after acquiring Hammond in 1926. Sold to Ralph Coxhead in New Jersey in 1933. Taken over by Addresso-Multigraph in 1958. [Messenger, Typewriter.be] A number of foundry typefaces were adopted for the Varityper. There are also some designs that appear to be original.
