Friedrich W. Bauer

German punch cutter and type founder, 1834–1923. Oldest son of Johann Christian Bauer, who founded the Bauer foundry in Frankfurt/Main. Apprentice and later partner in his father’s company. Self-employed from 1858. Founder of Bauer & Co in Stuttgart in 1880 (together with Karl Rupprecht). Self-employed again from 1887. [Klingspor-Museum] Not to be confused with Friedrich Bauer.
