AKA Nobel-Antieke. An adaptation of Berthold-Grotesk, revised to bring it more in line with Futura. [Lane & Lommen] Released in c. 1929–1932 in 3 weights, the 2 lighter ones with small caps and italics, plus 2 condensed upright weights, a set of open caps (Open Nobel Kapitalen) [Reichardt 2011] and shadow caps (Schaduw Nobel Kapitalen, identical with Umbra?). [Lane & Lommen] Alternates with pointed apexes for ‘AMNVW’ were available on request. [Amsterdam specimen] Sold in France as Noble [Societé Garamond specimen] Adapted for the Intertype linecasting machine, for poster woodtype, and for headline phototype systems. [DTL]
