Håvard Gjelseth used Dover in many weights to design this custom-marbled, hand-bound album by Bladed, their third release. The hand-made release is a 30-copy limited edition. The retail version is a direct copy, but printed offset. The vinyl, finally, is a photograph of the hand-made book. It’s equal parts clever and lazy, and makes for a nice collection of items (the vinyl comes with a copy of the CD).

Dover Serif is used in both text and display styles, and Dover Sans Display is used for titles and various scattered elements.

For what it’s worth, I really love the album. Moody, powerful storytelling. (What really tickles me is that the album is released through the excellently named Crispin Glover Records. I’ve been told he found that flattering.)

  1. I’m happy to report that Halloween in Bagamoyo won Gold at the European Design Awards this year. I couldn’t be more proud to see Dover on centre-stage for this kind of work.
