A progressive journal of politics and culture The New Republic was recently redesigned by mgmt. TNR is known for its quality journalism and in-depth storytelling, and mgmt chose Lava, a Typotheque typeface designed for another magazine aiming for quality journalism and in-depth storytelling.
Lava is used throughout the printed magazine, on the web, Lava is combined with Balto for descriptions and captions.
TNR has gone from bi-weekly to monthly, and new Editor-in-Chief Gabriel Snyder announced the intention to make “each issue more timeless.”
