This ad from Kleenex® manufacturer Kimberly-Clark was placed in design, writing, and journalism periodicals, reminding editors to protect their trademark which had become a generic term for facial tissue.

It’s set in a tightly-spaced photo or digital version of Cloister (note simplified ‘y’) and a condensed Pistilli Roman with custom ‘y’.

Thanks to The Hagley Vault, selections from Hagley Museum and Library’s archives and published collections on the history of American business, technology, and innovation.
