The book jacket was designed by Lawrence Ratzkin. The interior (not pictured here) is by Marion Hess.
“STANLEY” uses the Orbit variant with filled-in bottom apertures, and “the” appears to be in Bronstein Bold, a film typeface that is very similar to PLINC’s Cooper Nouveau Swash Bold and Letraset’s Lazybones. “A Novel” obviously references the Mobil logo as designed by Chermayeff & Geismar in 1963. I wonder whether “Elkin” is based on a typeface, too.
I love this cover. Great find, Ian!
I do think I’ve seen that Elkin face before. I’ll check my phototype catalogs.
“Elkin” seems to be set in Corporate.
Outstanding, getsuren! Added.
