Boogie Knits
The 70s: a decade remembered best for afghans and Blippo. There used to be scores of these instructional booklets lying around at my aunts’ and grandmother’s houses. I found this one at a tag sale in my neighborhood and had to drop the quarter. Dated, sure, but that font still holds up to me. Right on.

Interesting! Some letterforms were either customized, or there was a version of Blippo Black that included even more alternates than this one from Mecanorma, cf. ‘e’ with thin horizontal, closed ‘g’, narrow ‘s’.
Using Blippo for actual text is new to me. As a display font it has been used on several ocassions. It is especially well known for being the foundation the icon Playmobil logo, where it is combined with the face and recognizeable zig-zag haircut.
