In: Typographische Mitteilungen, Vol. 19, Issue 7, July 1922

The double-headed eagle appears to be signed with an HS (or SH?) monogram.

Walter Buhe (1882–1958) designed Buhe-Fraktur after he became a teacher at the Berliner Kunstschule in 1912, succeeding Ludwig Sütterlin. His typeface was first cast by the Stempel foundry in Frankfurt in 1915, together with a halbfett. The fett weight shown here followed in 1922, after World War I. By then, Buhe had been appointed Professor for Applied Graphics at the Leipzig Academy (today known as HGB Leipzig), a position he held for 27 years.
