Planet P is the debut album of Planet P Project, “a pseudonym used by American rock musician Tony Carey for his science-fiction themed, progressive rock/space rock music.” — Wikipedia

The cover shown above uses Augustea Open. Its wedge-shaped quotation mark was repurposed as double hyphen. Unlike in the original type design by Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese, the N has serifs at the top left and bottom right. It’s not clear if this is a modification made by the graphic designer, or if there was a phototype version with this detail. Soon after its release in 1983, the album was retitled Planet P Project. The adjusted cover shown below now features Augustea Open with unseriffed apexes, and slightly condensed letterforms.

The track list on the back cover is set in OCR-A. With its monospaced, machine-readable glyphs, it starkly contrasts with Augustea’s chiseled capitals which reference lapidary inscriptions from the Golden Age.
