It’s interesting that James Mosley describes this period, around 1960, as the point when Monotype Grotesque 'came back’.
I was recently looking through scans of Monotype Recorders from this period and it’s fun to see how they never mention it throughout the 1920s and 30s. Indeed, their obituary to Pierpont mentions that he cut 'a number’ of fonts 'of his own design’ without naming them.
