La cabeza de la hidra (The Hydra Head) is a spy thriller by Mexican author Carlos Fuentes (1928–2012) first published by Editorial Joaquin Mortiz in 1978. This German edition titled Das Haupt der Hydra was translated by Maria Bamberg and published in 1983 by Bertelsmann Club, under license from Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt (DVA), Stuttgart. Cover designer Jürgen Reichert combined a detail from one of Diego Rivera’s murals in Ciudad de Mèxico with tightly spaced Revue (Letraset, 1968).
