Jeu de Paume is an arts centre for modern and postmodern photography and media. In the fall of 2021, it lauched a new program of activities dedicated to children and families, called Ping-Pong. On this occasion, Kiblind Agence was asked to imagine an illustrated and graphic identity, dynamic and colorful, speaking to children and adolescents as well as to parents.

Kiblind came up with an easily recognizable logo, compatible with that of Jeu de Paume and with all of the institution’s media. The logo incorporates a playful and graphic tribute to photography as well as a nod to the black circle, characteristic of the identity of Jeu de Paume.

Alongside geometric and bright-colored shapes, the Inktrap version of Area is used throughout the various visuals made for the events.

    1. The Jeu De Paume logo is a rounded Futura Bold.

    2. Yes, Futura provided the basis for the logo. It appears to be rounded in small sizes. If you look at it up close, you’ll find that it employs a halftone effect (similar to Letraset’s Process). There are various iterations of the logo, some with a coarser dot pattern. The first one to feature rounded dots was designed by Change is good in 2007.

I won’t add Futura to the typeface credits here, as the logo is not part of Kiblind’s design for Ping-Pong. (The unidentified typeface tag refers to the bold condensed sans with two-story forms for a and g and a flat-roofed 3, as seen in the third image.) Feel free to prepare a post that focuses on Futura in use for the Jeu de Paume logo, though!

    3. The unidentified bold condensed sans is TT Trailers.
