A custom version of Unica77 has been developed by Lineto for Polestar: a design-focused electric performance car brand, harnessing refined performance and cutting-edge technology.
Stockholm Design Lab was approached by Polestar to develop the new brand to become a credible competitor in the rapidly expanding global market that offer cars to the world’s most demanding, progressive drivers of all market segments. Their role is to act as a strategic partner defining the brand long-term as well as hands-on design and production. The scope of the assignment comprises the development and evolution of the holistic visual identity, concept development, digital, communication, events, retail and motion design.

Polestar Unica77 is the Polestar typeface, used across channels and for all forms of communication. The typeface was selected because it’s technical, clean, and free from association with any particular industry or time period. It’s instantly recognisable, clearly Polestar, and designed to endure, proclaiming our brand even without the symbol or wordmark.
