This exhibition, displayed at Literaturhaus Stuttgart in Germany, features F37 Foundry’s F37 Lineca. F37 Lineca is an experimental and unique font that contains a straight, horizontal line in every single letterform whilst remaining legible and ideal for both small and large display.

Written by Armin Roth, Studio Panorama:

The exhibition features the winning comic of the Comic Book Award 2022. Madame Choi and the Monsters by Sheree Domingo and Patrick Spät links a fictional Korean myth with the story of the South Korean actress Choi Eun-hee and the film director Shin Sang-ok. The two were abducted to North Korea by the dictator’s son and later ruler Kim Jong-il.

For the exhibition the comic was printed on canvas to reference the aesthetics of a cinema screen. The fabric were temporarily stretched on wooden frames looking like tunnel constructions that were dug between North and South Korea. One of these tunnels was used to abduct Madame Choi.

Typography is a main design element in the exhibition. F37’s Lineca remains easily legible, eventhough it is often partially hidden by construction elements. Its aesthetic reminds us of typewriter, originally used for film scripts, without the disadvantages of a monospaced font.
