Chris Robinson Brotherhood – Servants of the Sun album art

Servants of the Sun is the sixth and final studio album by the Chris Robinson Brotherhood:

Servants of the Sun bursts into the clear blue air with the funky upper atmosphere bubbling of vintage keyboards and driving rhythm. A gateway swings wide open to a universe that the Chris Robinson Brotherhood has been tirelessly constructing for eight years through extraordinary musicianship, endless touring and a roving, seemingly bottomless wizard’s chest of sonic delights.

Wind is the first published typeface by Dutch designer Hansje van Halem. It’s basically a dot matrix sans on a diagonal grid, but with an artful twist: each of the dots that make up the letterforms is the root of a hair – or a blade of grass – that goes with the wind. Produced by Peter Biľak, it was released with Typotheque in 2017. Wind comes in four styles, defined by and named after pairings of the four cardinal directions, which “can be combined and overlaid to create vibrant, hypnotic patterns” [Typotheque]. There is also a variable version, engineered by Thom Janssen, allowing the wind to turn 360 degrees, and inviting animated use. The initials “CRB” on the album cover forego any layering or variation. They are simply set in the static NE (North-East) style. Shown in white and against a sunset, the letterforms here resemble points of light in a long exposure photograph.
