“If it’s a Paramount Picture” advert
A 1930s advertisement for Paramount Pictures, advertising several of the company’s films and listing a few of the people behind them,
featuring Norman Taurog, who directed Eddie Cantor in Strike Me Pink, a Samuel Goldwyn Production, and Bing Crosby in Rhythm on the Range; and LeRoy J. Prinz, dance director who directed all musical numbers in Paramount Pictures in 1935. Some of the many films he worked on include Anything Goes, Show Boat, Coronado, Collegiate, Millions in the Air, Rose of Rancho, Goin’ to Town, The Crusades, and All the King’s Horses.
The top half is headlined with Litho Antique (at that point named Rockwell Antique), with the alternate round top A that was added by Morris Benton for the 1931 reissue, with the body in the similar Memphis and what looks like Garamond No. 3.
The bottom half uses Ultra Bodoni for LeRoy J. Printz’s name, with the body utilizing a mix of Recut Caslon Italic and Century Expanded.
The top and bottom most lines – which proudly display the company’s slogan – use Beton Extra Bold.
