“The Way We Were” was first released by Barbra Streisand in late 1973, so the date of this album is probably 1974 when the song was being much covered.
That’s a good lead! Thanks, Steve. I have changed the date to “c. 1974”. This would also match the dates mentioned in the liner notes (“In 1959 … In the past 16 years”).
